Take a test drive of the Global Marketing Information Database

February 21, 2007

Euromonitor is one of the leading database producers in global data and reports. Their Global Market Information Database (GMID) contains:

  • hard-to-find statistics and demographics on 205 countries
  • analysis of consumer lifestyles in over 70 countries
  • market size data on over 300 consumer products in global markets
  • 4,500 market research reports
  • and more . . .

If you’ve been looking for a report on consumers in Azerbaijan, the growth in the market for bottled water in Malaysia, or information on the automobile industry in France - GMID is the database.

The Walker Management Library has a trial that runs through March 12th. Yes, we’re closing in on the end of MOD III and Spring Break is coming up soon (but not soon enough!), but please give this database a look and provide us with feedback.

To access the trial:

  1. Go to: http://www.gmid.euromonitor.com
  2. At the sign-in screen enter Vanderbilt (for company), business (for user) and global (for password).

We look forward to your feedback!

VUnetID Authentication for ACORN

February 12, 2007

ACORN

Good news! You can now enter your VUnetID and password to login to ACORN (the library’s online catalog). Selecting “Account Login” from ACORN will display an updated login page where you can enter your VUnetID and password information.

Why should you login to ACORN?

  • Renew materials you have checked out.
  • See the status of materials you have checked out, items you have recalled, and late fees you have been assessed.
  • View or edit your ACORN Alerts profile. ACORN Alerts allow you to receive notifications via email of new titles received in the library by selected authors or on selected subjects. This feature is only available when you are logged in.
  • Change the address the library uses to contact you.
  • Take advantage of additional personalized options scheduled for later implementation.

Questions? Contact WML Access Services staff at circulation@owen.vanderbilt.edu or call 343-2137. If you have any problems with your VUnetID when trying to login to ACORN, enter your previous ACORN ID and password to login and then contact Library IT Services at 322-7073 so they can further investigate the issue with your VUnetID.

We have upgraded our license to MarketResearch.com Academic to provide access to all reports that the company provides to universities. The two major changes that come with this upgrade are expanded coverage for healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical device markets. Reports are no longer delayed before we have access.

MarketResearch.com Academic continues to provide coverage in the following industry sectors: Business Services, Consumer Goods, Demographics, Food and Beverages, Heavy Industry (Energy, Chemical, Manufacturing, etc.,) and Life Sciences.

You must access MarketResearch.com Academic through this link or through the Walker Management Library website to gain access to all academic reports. (Typing in the URL in a web browser won’t get you access.) Be aware that MarketResearch.com does publish other reports, but they do not provide access to all of their reports through theacademic license.
